Keeping viewer configuration settings with viewer upgrade

We are upgrading our HTML5 viewer from 5.0 to HTML5 2.6 and I was wondering if you had any ideas/ tip/ tricks on keeping and not loosing my viewer config settings? We have a lot of sites and some of them are extensively configured. I would really hate to lose my config settings when adding the new viewer. I have never done this before (new to all of this!) so any help would be great.

  Yes, It would be nice if your customized stuff would upgrade into the new version.

   

  We use Diff Merge to compare the old viewer (desktop.json.js) file to the new one. Then we bring over the lines of code we need from the old to the new one.
