Magnify Tool

Has anyone tried to create a magnify tool that would interactively display a zoomed in view of the map as the user hovers over an area? We have a need to allow users to zoom in past the largest scale of our cached basemap (we dont want to create another larger scale cache level as it becomes too large), and looking into different ways to accomplish this.

 

Beyond that use case, it may just be a useful tool in general.

  I don't know about any magnify tools, but are you aware of the "Override Maximum Scale" property? It's in the viewer's "map" configuration, and will allow users to zoom beyond the limits of your base tiling scheme.

  Thanks for the info. Looks like that solves the problem. I have probably looked at that setting a dozen times and never realized its use.

   

  Still curious about a magnify tool for other uses. Perhaps that's better as an idea for Latitude.
