HTML5 Viewer -- SiteInitializationFailedEvent/SyntaxError: Invalid character?
H5 Viewer simply doesn't work for some sites for weird reason. Definitely the software bug. Site created okay, viewer created okay. When I try open it with IE (v.11). It shows the error: "Failed to initialize site. The error was: Invalid character". From the log file:
after the line: info 11:13:31.652 Initializing module 'Charting'.
error 11:13:33.325 Failed to initialize site. The error was: Invalid character
error 11:13:33.401 Error occurred while retrieving the bookmark values: SiteInitializationFailedEvent/SyntaxError: Invalid character

3 of 12 our sites screwed up with this error. Any suggestions from developers?

Hi Mikhail,
I realize this reply is late but for the benefit of others reading this, it appears that when the site is being read in an invalid character is encountered. The character might be in a bookmark or it may be in a a map service's data, it's really hard to say. You would need to use a tool like Fiddler to view the responses being received. I would recommend opening a support (To: support@latitudegeo.com) mailto:support@latitudegeo.comcase for an issue like this.

Hi Richard,
I remember I fixed that by removing some unnecessary services from base Site. We tried to figure out the wrong character but failed - found nothing unusual. That's definitly Geocortex bug and probably misleading error report. I used the removed services for another site and they work fine.
Thanks anyway,

Thanks for the update Mikhail. I had a similar case recently, the extent on the map service was set to NaN instead of an actual number causing the error (in ArcGIS). I don't think your case was the same as the error message is slightly different.

I got the same error, What is happening! 0 -
Update:
The issue was associated to one of our services which was down (corrupted), the manager didn't give any indication for errors in services! The GVS viewer was initialized successfully, but the GVH viewer fails to initialize! And gives this meaningless error message such as this one.
Thanks,

Quite confusing! 0 -
Yes, GVS works fine, GVH5 fails. I fixed it by removing some services from base Site, but it was not easy to find out, which one is causing eror. 0
