Hi All,
I tried to add a zipped FileGDB but it needs to sign in into ArcGIS online.

How I can do that?
Thanks in advance,

Hi Lubna,
If you want to upload a FileGDB, then you need to sign into the viewer with an ArcGIS Online account.
To do that, there are a few steps you need to take:
1. In the Post Installer, you need to configure the sign-in option to use ArcGIS. This allows you to sign in to Essentials Manager using your ArcGIS Online credentials.
2. Then when you launch Essentials Manager, it will prompt you to sign in with your ArcGIS Online account. Once you sign in, at the top-right hand corner is a tab called "Security and Data". In here, you want to make sure the checkbox is checked next to "ArcGIS Online". This will allow you to set permissions on your site using the users and roles set in ArcGIS Online.
3. Now you should be able to see a list of ArcGIS Online groups/users/roles in the dropdown menu under the Permissions section (in Essentials Manager > Site > Permissions). You want to allow ArcGIS users to access your site. The easiest way of doing this is selecting "ArcGIS Online - All Users" in the dropdown menu and then putting a green checkmark next to "Site" in the tree below it.
Once you save the changes and reload the viewer, you should be prompt to sign in with your ArcGIS Online credentials. When you are signed in, you should be able to upload your fileGDB will no issues using the Upload Data tool.
I hope this helps.

Hi Carmen ,
Will users be able to login with windows authentication and only during GDB upload it will request for arcgis online account .
Thanks ,0 -
Hi Khalid,
Unfortunately no. You can configure the viewer to allow your users to sign in with their ArcGIS Online and Windows AD accounts, but you cannot configure it so that it will prompt for their ArcGIS Online login only during the GDB upload. Your users will have to login to the viewer with their ArcGIS Online accounts if they want to use the Upload Data tool for GDB files.
I hope this helps

Hi Carmen,
most of our users do not have an account in the arcgis online accounts! how they can upload a zipped FGDB?
best,

This is really weird. Why this tool requires having arcgis online? It should be generic and stand-alone. 0 -
We decided to just write our own. It's easy enough between a GP service and a workflow. 0 -
We prefer to use “out-of-the-box” tools as they are much more powerful that tools that are created by workflow. Built-in tools stay better option for us also due to the fact that in case of upgrade, no further efforts are required to make sure that they work fine.
We hope that GE developers can solve the dependency between ArcGIS online and the tool in question.0 -
Dear Ryan Kelley ,
can you please share with us the workflow and the geoprocessing

Here is another post with a different recommended work around. I also think Geocortex needs to double check this and avoid ArcGIS Online, or make it available in Geocortex Essentails for us to configure the "Upload Tool" to use or not use ArcGIS Online. To many companies and irganizations have strict data security protocol and cannot integrate AGOL from an Identity Store or from a Data Privacy Perspective. Let's also assume folks are not using Portal too.
