associate workflows with layers in catalog
An idea to make the layer catalog even more useful is to associate workflows with a specific layer in the layer catalog. An example i am thinking is a photo points layer we have that when you click on the photo point a map tip rises, and from the map tip you can retrieve the airphoto through a workflow that rotates the image, reduces the resolution and produces a pdf suitable for printing for our front desk customers. Since the workflows would not be loaded in the viewer site before they added the photo points layer from the layer catalog, the workflow would not run. you could add the workflow in advance to all the possible sites, but i was thinking a better way: allow essentials site managers of the catalog site to associate workflows with layer themes in the catalog. Since many of our layer themes have niche purposes associated with them (expressed as a workflow), this would create a much richer experience and functionality for the users of the geocortex essentials. Imagine if you were going to pay a site visit to an area, you searched and found the area in the viewer you were interested in, but you needed a photo showing the feature of interest, then you went the layer catalog, added the photo points layer to site, you then could click on the photo point symbol and ran workflow that would create a printable photo image. Of course you could add those workflows to every viewer site in your manager, but to be able to add the layer and associated functionality to any site through the layer catalog is much better and more efficient.
