Opening Feature Hyperlinks in IE11
Hi,
I have a feature hyperlink set up on a layer. The hyperlink is to an internal document. In GE version 4.4.0, when the hyperlink is clicked a new tab appears and the document opens as expected. However in GE 4.5.1 i do not get the same behaviour. When the hyperlink is clicked, nothing happens. If I right click on the link and select open in new tab, it works. But not when I do a regular click.
Does anyone have any ideas as to why this is happening?
Thanks
Halil

Hi Halil,
Our viewers technically do not support local filepaths so I'm not sure how you have the feature hyperlink set up. However, if you use a full url (i.e. http://www.google.com), the feature hyperlink will function as expected.
If you want to link it to an internal document, then I would suggest you put the file in the viewer's virtual directory like this:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Latitude Geographics\Geocortex Essentials\Default\REST Elements\Sites\LA_County\Viewers\LA_County_HTML\VirtualDirectory\splash.jpg
Then you can use a URL like this to access it: http://domain.com/Geocortex/Essentials/Default/REST/sites/LA_County/viewers/LA_County_HTML/virtualdirectory/splash.jpg
I hope this helps

Hi Carmen,
Please see the below gif to see it working on 4.4.0, html5viewer 2.5.0

Here it is on 4.5.1 Html5viewer 2.6.1, where it does not work, unless the user right clicks on the layer and selects it that way. The browser is IE11. for both .gifs.

Hi Halil,
I was able to replicate the feature hyperlink functionality with the product versions you specified above. However, as I mentioned before, filepaths were never officially supported because this behaviour differs across different browsers. Using the HTML5 viewer version 2.5 in IE does open the feature hyperlink as expected; however, the same viewer does not work in Chrome or Firefox. So if this feature did work with filepaths, then it was not done on purpose.
On top of that, in the new HTML5 viewer, they have added more security features so it is not surprising that this feature hyperlink no longer works in IE.
I'm sorry that this no longer functions as you expect it to. At this point I would suggest adding this to our (https://support.geocortex.com/GSCIdeas?c=09a6000000008RsAAI&filter=1&categ=all&sub-nav=ideas&main-nav=essentials&page=1) Ideas Board here so it can be considered for a future release. In the meantime, the only workaround would be the one I suggested above. I hope this helps and please let me know if you have any further questions.
Regards,
Carmen0
