Layer Hyperlinks for layers added from Layer Catalog?

We set up a layer hyperlink at the service-level to create a link to our metadata webpage for each layer.  Works fine in a standard site, but when adding layers through layer catalog, they don't show up anywhere in the layer list (the arrow to the layer context menu is where they are in the non-layer catalog layers).

 

I'm sure I'm missing something - anyone else encounter this?
