Documentation for ESRI Javasript API version

How can we determine which version of the ESRI Javasript API is used in each of the releases of the HTML5 viewer?  I see documentation that ESRI JS API 4.0 will be used in HTML5 Viewer 3.0, but I can't find which version of ESRI 3.x corresponds to HTML5 viewer 2.x.x.  I would like to verify that functionality documented in the ESRI JS API will be supported within the version of the HTML5 viewer that is being used. It would be helpful if this information was included in the release notes.

  As of the 2.5 HTML5 viewer, the Esri JavaScript API version is given in the second line of the log (Ctrl + Shift + ~ or long-press the banner). In versions where a new version of the API is used, it is listed under Features. I'll ask that it be more prominently placed in future versions.
