If I understand you correctly, I'm doing what you want at the site below.  Check it out, and if it is what you're looking for I can elaborate on what I did.

Though, I'm not using the timeslider, but rather the Basemap Switcher

    Hey Mike,

That's actually pretty cool and looks a lot better than the time slider. How did you set that up?

As I said, it is using the Basemap Switcher, which you can look up in the Admin.  Basically, you go into the Map Service properties and under the Functional tab, you put something into the Basemap Transparency Slider Group field.  On this particual site, I made 3 different groups, one for City Aerials, one for County Aerials, and one for other stuff like IR and Topo.  You want to order the map services in the same order yo want them to display, with the most recent usually at the top (so it displays first when you turn on the group).  You will also probably want to enter a Short Display Name on the Details tab, since that value gets picked up by the switcher.  In other sites, I just have the most current City and County Aerial, and use the switcher to allow them to easily switch between them.  You can see that here:

Or in this case I have two sliders, each with many years of aerials, and I have the newest City aerial open by default, and you can slide back in time.  Or you can close that and Open the County Aerial group and do the same:

When you are entering the Basemap Transparency Slider Group field - make sure the spelling is the same for all of the aerials that you want to group together.  A group gets made whenever there are two or more aerials with the same exact Slider Group value.
