Essentials 4.5.1.58 HTML5 2.6.1 - Export error: Exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation. The operation completed successfully
The Print Map and Export features of our Essentials sites are not working. They are throwing the error, "Print error: Exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation. The operation completed successfully".
The only thing I can think that has changed is that last week, I uninstalled ArcGIS Portal 10.3 from the same server Essentials is running on. I'm at a loss as to why that would break Essentials print capability...
I would welcome any insight people have on this.
Thanks,
~Becky

Just reporting back to my original post with the fix. Jordan Marlatt from the Geocortex Community team solved my issue. It was simply a matter of re-running the Essentials Post Installation Configuration tool. That was all I did and it immediately started working again. Thanks Jordan! 0 -
Glad I could help! 0 -
For posterity: I just encountered this issue on a client's site and Post Installer was ineffective for us. Rebooting the server worked, though.
We also had bizarre (really realyl bizarre) behavior in the workflows going on as well. I'm talking about workflow activities failing in new, creative ways and enumerables emptying themselves of their contents at no point in particular so much as, best I can tell, whenever they felt like it
I know all of this because I spent a lot of time looking into the bizarre behavior before turning the whole thing off and on again, which is work that I hope someone reading this will now be able to avoid having seen my experience.0 -
I just had it happen to me, and runningnstaller was enough in my case... 0 -
It's happening here too.
users get "Print error: Exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation. renderer The given input does not represent a valid ArcGIS client API JSON format symbol. The operation completed successfully"
or "Printer Error: Exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation. The operation completed successfully" .
I have hundreds of users, I cannot stop & start the service.

I too am encountering the errors mentioned by Frederic Poliart. In order to correct the issue, I have to recycle the application pool the REST is in. I am currently recycling it every 4 hours, but it feels like I need to lower it. Not sure if this is the best approach, but it is the only thing I can do to correct it. I too have 100's of users and stopping and starting the service or restarting the server is not an option. 0 -
Hi Tony,
There is a setting added to Essentials version 4.8 that should help with this issue as well as recycling the App Pools more frequently, as you are already doing. Feel free to increase the interval to every 2 hours and see if it helps and also make sure you are using the most current version of Essentials. If you still see problems, feel free to open a support ticket and we can look into it further.

Hi Wayne
Thanks for updating. Would you explain which setting in Essential 4.8 do you mean exactly?
Best regards,
Eva Juhasz0 -
Hi Eva,
The settings are not visible in the interface of Essentials Manager, they are settings you add to the REST web.config file. The settings are called gcx.dispatcherCleanupForceGC, and gcx.dispatcherCleanupInterval and I would recommend submitting a support ticket if you feel you need to add these and we can help you with it.
