Use Integrated Windows Authentication with Portal

We have Essentials 4.6.3 set up to authenticate against Portal 10.4.1 which uses Windows Authentication.  It seems to work okay and I don't recall having any issues connecting to Portal in the post installer.

Are you accessing Portal through a web adapter or directly to the server:port? If using a web adapter, did you give the virtual directory a custom name instead of the default  of "arcgis" and if so, did you use that in the Essentials post installer?

    Hi all,

Just wondering if this was ever resolved?

I have the same issue running Portal 10.4.1, GE 4.7.1, GVH 2.8.2. I am using IWA on Portal.

The portal is accessible via brower and authenticates fine, but I cannot set it in post-installer. I just get an invalid url message.

I am accessing Portal through the web adaptor.

    Thanks,

    Dave

make sure you are using https and the custom instance name instead of the default 'arcgis' (we called ours 'portal' to differentiate it from the ArcGIS Server URL) you changed it during Portal installation.

have you tried using Fiddler or similar tools to debug what the actual request being made is?

    Hi Peter

We are running https and the custom name is portal.

    https://gis.rvca.ca/portal

I am finding that portal doesn't authenticate on the server it is hosted on (server 2008), but does everywhere else. I will check fiddler. Perhaps it is related.

    Thanks

    Dave

Not sure if it will make a difference, but what browser are you using?  It does seem to make a diffference with some tasks.

    Hi Peter,

I have been in contact with Latitude Support and they do not support Portal with Windows Authentication only in IIS. This is our business requirement. When I test Portal with Anonymous access in IIS, I can set Portal in the post-installer and add it as a service connection in restmanager and everything works as expected in the viewer.

Unfortunately we will have to wait for a fix...

    Thanks,

    Dave
