Do saved queries only persist in a session?

It seems from my testing that saved results and queries only persist in a session, not for a user and/or project. Is that correct?

 

GE 4.7, GVH 2.8

  According to the documentation they are persisted when you save a project.

  Well, today it's working! Create query, run query, save query, save project. Log out/log in and they are there. I did clear cookies first, but I can't think what else I might have done differently this morning.
