Upcoming Changes to Geocortex Analytics's Probing and Collection Methods in Version 1.4
To improve Analytics performance and reduce strain on the resources that Analytics is monitoring we are redesigning our probing and collection methods for Analytics 1.4 that is expected to be available in the fall. This redesign will consolidate our probing and collection methods under one system and remove the role.config files as a configuration option. Configuration will only be supported through the Analytics configuration interface. No data migration or alarm changes will be needed for the redesign.
The primary configuration change from this consolidate probe and collection system is how ArcGIS Server (ArcGIS Enterprise) will be configured. The setup of ArcGIS Server monitoring will now use administrative credentials to access live service information through the ArcGIS Server Admin API so we can make more intelligent decisions about when we probe a service. This will allow Analytics to adjust its probing so as not to strain the ArcGIS Server during peak time, while still maintaining our expected levels of monitoring. For those of you who have not already entered your ArcGIS Server administration credentials into Analytics you will need to do this upon upgrading to version 1.4 for ArcGIS Server collection to continue.
An additional impact of this change is that website probes will no longer be able to use regex URLs to configure how they are monitored. This was previously only available through role.configs and with their removal in version 1.4 will no longer be supported. All configuration for website probes will be done through Analytics configuration interface.
