    Hi Lubna,

When Analytics looks at the IP address a user connects from, it's only able to look at the last hop.  For most organizations, this is a reverse proxy server or a firewall.  That is the IP address you will see in that field.

We recognize this is an issue, and we have an open improvement to fix it (GID-430).  I've also (https://support.geocortex.com/optimizerGSCIdeasDetail?c=09a6000000008RxAAI&id=08760000000H00WAAS&categ=all&sub-nav=ideas&main-nav=optimizer) posted an idea for it here .

    Thanks!

    Hi Daniel,

We have been requesting this since ages at the era of optimizer with no action. No with analytics it is not there neither.

    Hi Danny,

This issue appears in GA 1.3, in the prevoius version 1.2 it wasn't.

    best,

    Hi Jamal,

That is likely because this is a tricky thing to accomplish.  We are able to get the last hop, which works in many cases, but not in cases where your connection is proxied.  Since the whole point of a proxy is to prevent people from doing exactly this, it makes it challenging for us to do in a safe way.

Thank you for voting for the idea!  It is being reviewed for future versions of Analytics.

    Cheers,

    Hi Lubna,

I don't think that's possible.  This has been a known limitation since Analytics was called Insight.  If you were accessing your sites directly while you were running 1.2 (not throught a reverse proxy), then it may have been working, but that would have been due to a lack of a proxy server, not a change in Analytics.

    Thanks,

    Danny
