sub-item visibility in Layer Catalog Site

Hi All

 

I have set the Sub-Item Visibility for a group  of layers in a Layer Catalog Site, so that only one layer within a group can be turned on at at time. However, when a user adds these layers to a site, this is not being honored. All of the layers can be activated.

 

Is this expected behaviour for a Layer Catalog Site?

    What version of Essentails and HTML5 viewer are you using?

    What kind of services are you using in the Layer Catalog?

    The versions I am currently on is GXE 4.8.2 and HTML5 2.9.2

     

    They are just simple dynamic services.

    Hi all,

     

    Just wondering if there are any updates on this? We're currently on GE 4.9.2 and HTML viewer 2.10.1, and are having the same issue with Visible='false' not being honoured when a layer is brought in from the catalog. 

     

    While I can see the logic behind it (why would a user bring in a layer unless they wanted to see it right away?) it would be useful to be able to configure this, to ensure users aren't overloading the site by loading in multple layers from the catalog. 

     

    We are soon moving to HTML 2.11.1 so would be interested to know if any change has been made there?

    Perhaps Latitude would like to comment on this?

     

    We have a large external web service that we would really like to have as an optional extra and therefore located in the Catalog. Unfortunately, we are hamstrung right now with the viewer automatically turning on ALL layers as they are loaded and this has the potential to really stall the viewer on the first load of the extra map service layers (think millions of roads being added!). We've asked the external vendor to tune the scale dependency for us but ideally, the site config for the Catalog should be being respected I would've thought?

     

    I'm about to play around with the scale override setting on the map service layers to see if this is respected...

     

    Is anyone else having an issue with this?

    A comment from Latitude would be appreciated.  We are experiencing the following issues with Layer Catalogs:
    • Sub-item visibility settings not honored.  
    • Include in Legend visibility not honored.

     This remains an issue for us and never received a response 12 months on.

    The lack of effect from the Sub-item Visibility options in Layer Catalog folders/groups has been recognized as an issue and has been filed accordingly, as BUG 24106: Sub-item Visibility doesn't work for Layer Catalog folders. 

     

    Please check back in the "What's New" section of the Support Center for more information on upcoming releases, including a fix for this bug.
