layer catalog - display properties
When I add a map service that has layers with transparency applied to them to a site I have to set the image formet for the map servicce to png32 in order for the transparency to show correctly in the viewer. When adding layers through the layer catalog the same display setting is not exposed so the transparency applied in the map service is not visible in the viewer. Does anyone have a workaround for this so the transparency of layers added through the layer catalog can be preserved? GE 4.8/GVH 2.9

Hi Rebecca,
We've seen this issue previously, but fixed it for 2.7.1, at least for dynamic map services, as GVH-11155.
Have you set the "Image Format" property in the catalog site to png32 yet? You should be able to do so by opening the catalog site in Essentials Manager and navigating to Map > Map Services > Edit Service > Display Settings tab
I tested it out with https://aws-dmags2.geocortex.com/arcgis/rest/services/LosAngelesCounty/LA_Editing/MapServer/1 and the transparency worked, but only after applying the setting here. A useful test you can do is use the "Print" or "Export" tool to check what the "expected" transparency is according to ArcGIS Server, since the export will get it right.
We've also noted that the recommended settings on ArcGIS Server side (ArcMap) for dynamic symbology are to set Layer transparency to 0% and Symbol transparency to 50% (127-RGBA format).
Thanks!
