Exported Date Format from HTML5 Essentials 463
Hi there
Has anyone else seen dates reformatted to numbers e.g. 43009.38 when they are a Timestamp in Oracle? I get that re-formatting occur when Exporting results from query from the HTML5 Viewer.
The user has to re-format the field as a date type within Excel. Just wondered if this was a bug? The date appears fine elsewhere in the whole Geocortex viewer including the actual results table - the date is correct in that. It just gets reformatted by the export process.
Thanks
Doug

I was wondering the same... 0 -
I always assumed it was Excel that was reformatting the data when it loads the data because it was trying to be smart (which it so often fails to do). 0 -
Hi John
I thought it might be Excel doing the reformatting, but if you look at the raw CSV file generated by the Export function, the dates have all been changed :( Something else is going on....0 -
Hi everyone,
We do have this filed internally as an improvement request- the id is GE-6212. It was reviewed last year and we marked it as something we were not planning to work on at the time. I would recommend posting an Idea (https://support.geocortex.com/GSCIdeas?c=09a6000000008RsAAI&filter=1&categ=all&sub-nav=ideas&main-nav=essentials&page=1) requesting that we improve date formatting for exported xlxs files. If there is a high demand, we may revisit the issue.
In the meantime, you could consider using the "export to csv" option instead. The dates come into Excel with proper date formatting when using this option, and you can always resave it as an xlsx from Excel if you need to do complex editing or formatting later. That might be quicker than having to reformat the date columns if you have more than one.
Hope that helps!
