Intermediate zoom levels on tiled map service (disable snap to levels)
Hi All,
I would like to be able to specify an exact scale.... while using a cached map service. I am using the ESRI tiled map services for my basemap. I imagine if this is possible I would see something like you see when you overide the maximum zoom scale and you get a blurry/pixelated basemap image, but at least users can zoom in as far as they want.
Does anyone know how to do this? I see in the silverlight viewer there was on option for "snap to levels".
Im using GE4.6.3.24, html5viewer 2.7.2 but we are upgrading soon and would be ok waiting if there is an out of the box option again in a later version.
Thanks!
Don

Hi Don,
It comes down to a difference in Esri's APIs: in Silverlight, it is possible to interpolate between different cached levels, so you're not limited to specific scale levels when zooming; in the 3.X versions of the JavaScript API, this isn't supported. It is possible in the 4.X JavaScript API, which our next generation viewer will use. This viewer, however, is likely at least six months away, so you may want to go ahead with your upgrade.
There's a little more info on this issue in this idea:

Hi Jordan thank you for taking the time to provide a detailed explanation, we will go ahead with the upgrade and look forward to 4.x javascript.
I hadnt thought to search the ideas section when im searching for an answer will do that now too.
