Best way to customize printing options and still show extent rectangle?

We are currently not satisfied with the way the OOB print functionality works.  I am thinking of using a workflow to customize the behaviors.  The problem I see, is that the print preview graphic (normally a reddish rectangle that represents the print area) is not easily shown in this kind of scenario.  Anyone have any advice on how I might show the extent rectangle in a custom workflow for printing?

  HI Michael

  You can customize the color of the print preview graphic in the viewer json.

  But it is not posible call the print preview from a workflow.

   

  You can call the PrintMap from command, and get all the normal OOB print functionality, but there are no event, that you can catch from the workflow, to get the resultfile to do something with afterwards.

   

  I could have been nice with more funtions to customize the print funtion from a workflow thoug.
