Scripting Installation

Hello,

 

a customer with large deployment requirement is asking whether they can use scripts to automatically install Geocortex Essentials (and viewers) using a dedicated Software Deployment tool (Octopuss, in their case). This would ease updating their several environments (Dev/Test/Prod).

  Hi Guido,

   

  The MSI can be run headless with the msiexec program, which is installed by Windows.

   

  However, there is no supported way to deploy viewers to a server without having a user interactively click the buttons in the post installer.

   

  You may be able to use a system management tool capable of performing a before/after analysis to generate a custom install package that would work, but we have never tried that and are not sure if it would work.
