Additional Instant Search Configurations

I would like to have more configuration settings available for instant search.  Some of the configuration items I would like to see are as follows:

1. Ability to toggle indexing on/off for the geometry field.
2. Ability to only use instant search for search textbox hints and not the actual searching.  Instead I would like the instant search value to be used to query the actual service.
3. Set instant search start date/time and update interval settings.
