Feature Description permissions

Hi all, I have been setting feature descriptions up in a new public/internal map. My intended outcome was to have the feature  description map tip show a number of fields, then use field based permissions to have 'internal' values not show up when not logged in. However I have realized that the feature descriptions do not abide by the field based permissions on layers, as  all the fields always show up even if I'm not logged in and shouldnt have the permissions to see them. Is this the intended way for the feature descriptions to operate with the field based permissions?

  Yes, that's the expected behavior. Field visibility settings on the Fields tab don't impact whether or not you can use them in feature descriptions.

   

  If you want to have a public/internal feature descriptions, the best option is to add the layer to your site twice, configure each FD, and use permissions so the public only sees the public version and internal people only see the internal version.

  I'm curious why you are trying to combine the internal and public sites?
