Is it possible to pull IP addresses past the 3rd number for internal viewers via a web server?
My knowledge of network terms is limited, but I'll ask anyway:
Our Analytics v1.4 has an "IP Addresses" section under trends for each viewer. The aggregation option will drill down to 000.000.000.*, but the only IP address that comes through is our web server's 1st 3 sets of numbers. I'm thinking that full IP addresses wouldn't be available from public sessions, but would it be possible for Analytics to show me full IP addresses for internal-only viewers that are coming through our web server?

Hi Ross,
The aggregation option in the IP Addresses panel serves to group users based on subnet, but the first place to look for IP addresses is in the Users panel (same page, a few panels higher), to see if this information is making it through.
?Currently we detect IP addresses by grabbing the “X-Forwarded-For” request header on the request that is sent by the Viewer. Ideally, this contains the IP address of the client, but can sometimes by obscured by the originating router or gateway depending on the network architecture. We are able to get the last hop, which works in many cases, but not in cases where your connection is proxied. Since the whole point of a proxy is to prevent people from doing exactly this, it makes it challenging for us to do in a safe way.
I recommend upvoting this idea; the more votes it gets, the more likely it is to be prioritized.
Thanks,
