Displaying CCTV videos and observation docs / pics linked to a feature class

Hello all,

 

I have been aded dta from the CCTV Inspections of our sewer infrastructure (video and PDF reports) and Im looking for the best recommended methods of sharing this data via an Essentials Site.  

 

My idea is to have this data available within the Feature Description boxes (regular or Long) and store the links to the data in a table which contains the URLs for the chosen features.  This way, I can expose the URLs (from the data linked table) as a Hyperlink from within the Description boxes of the chosen feature(s).  I believe this method was described in the URL below:

Am I on the right track?  Is there another preferred method to share video and documents (flat PDFs in the case)?  I have not dealt with dynamic segmentation either - is this something I should be looking into?

 

Any insight would be appreciated.

  Hi,

   

  I think the easiest way to do this is to have a virtual directory as outlined in the other forum post. I'd structure the virtual directory to use a field name from the layer in question and then the image/video file name could be another field or something static. 

   

  Example:

   

  http://myserver.domain.com/servicename/objectid/fieldname.jpg

   

  This would allow you to create the Feature Description with replacement tokens for the objectid which would match the folder on your server and a replacement token for the name of the image/video. Also, with this method you could just leave the name of the file the same as all the files are in unique folders.
