Are you using the same account from your desktop as you are when you log in to the remote desktop?  Did you have Essentials Manager set up to use an administrators group other than BUILTIN\administrators?  Is it possible this got reset during the server restore?

Thank you Peter. Yes I am using the same account in both places. What strikes me is that before I am asked for a login I am blocked. This even after clearing my cache.

So please, how can I check the administrators group?

To answer my own question, Peter, I see in Post Installation Configuration it is indeed the BUILTIN\Administrators group that administrators belong to.

So what else might be wrong?

After finishing the post install, I was still blocked in Chrome, but was permitted in IE. Perhaps if I restart Chrome it'll work there, too, but regardless it looks like the problem is solved.

    Thank you Peter!

Restarting Chrome made no difference. Clearing cache then restarting did not, either. Before I resort to restarting my computer (which I doubt would help), what else can I do to make Chrome load Manager when IE gives me no trouble? I'm stil getting the Access Denied in Chrome.

Can you open your Developer Tools console in Chrome (press F12 or ctrl-shift-i), try and load Manager and see if any warnings/errors appear on the console tab in the developer tools window.

I'm wondering if this has anything to do with http vs https and possibly the level of encryption being used for https.  Have you checked your web server (IIS?) logs to see if it has anything that might point to the problem?

    Hi Peter,

I've just now had time to look at this, and before trying what you suggested, I simply tried again to load Manager in Chrome. And guess what! It worked! Maybe all it needed was a break.

    Cheers,

    Justin
