android 9 Pie, pinch to zoom & pan not working (Chrome)
I applied an OS update on my phone to android 9 pie. Now in Chrome (and Dolphin) i appear to have lost some "gesture" ability including the pinch to zoom and pan. Single tap still works for map tips, as does double tap for zooming in.
I've tested a few other browsers (Puffin, Firefox, Edge), and pinch zoom and pan work fine.
My viewer is running v 2.10, but i'm seeing the same thing on the LA Sample Site (v 2.11).

I am seeing same behavior. Any resolution on this? 0 -
Hi Matt and Shana,
We are currently testing Android 9 as well. Any fixes required for supporting this platform will be included in the next minor release (2.12). That the full release of Android 9 isn't planned for a few months.
Thanks, Stefan0 -
Thanks for the update Stefan. Fortunately for us most users are not using Android 9 yet. 0 -
Hi Matt,
Do you know if the users eperiencing this have enabled the new gestures feature (Settings > System > Gestures > Swipe Up on Home button)? I see a lot of chatter on it (both good and bad).

Hi Wayne,
We experience the issue regardless of Android Gestures being on or off.0 -
OK, thanks for the feedback!

Hi Wayne,
One of our users has just reported this problem. We're running the 2.11 mobile viewer.
I have tested a few alternate browsers on an Android 9 phone but have not had success with some of those alternate browsers mentioned above:
Chrome - pinch zoom and pan doesn't work
Edge - pinch zoom and pan doesn't work
Opera - pinch zoom and pan doesn't work
Firefox - pan works, but pinch zoom had mixed results, sometimes caused an 'identify' point rather than zooming in
Puffin - pinch zoom and pan worked fine
Issues were experienced regardless of Android Gestures being on or off also.
We don't think Android 9 is commonly used amongst our user base yet thankfully. However, it would be helpful to know what the estimated timeline is for the release of a fix in 2.12?
Thanks,
Christine0 -
Hi Christine,
I see BUG 22057 and it appears to be related, it is scheduled for 2.12 but it hasn't been implemented yet. Version 2.12 is currently due to be released end of Jan / beginning of Feb but the dates are not confirmed.
BUG 22057 mentions an ESRI bug that appears to be related - BUG-000116174
