Can i connect to an arcgis server thta is only available on our network?
I am getting the error "Unable to connect to data source. Network Error - An error occurred while seding hte request: The remote name could not be resolved: 'gis.rgcweb.org'
I assume the issue is that even thought my computer is on the network the request is running through arcgis online/the geocortex cloud.
Is there away around this?
Thanks,
Tom

Hi Tom,
Yes, you should be able to connect to your internal data source.
From the error message you shared, it looks at though you entered only the root of your server. To connect to a map service, you'll need to include the full URL and any credentials to access it; see https://docs.geocortex.com/reporting/latest/help/Default.htm#rpt5/help/data-sources.htm#Configure_an_ArcGIS_Data_Source%3FTocPath%3DInclude%2520Data%2520in%2520Reports%7CConfigure%2520a%2520Data%2520Source%7C_____1 for more details.
Thanks, Stefan

Stefan,
thanks for the quick response. I am entering the whole URL like so
http://gis.rgcweb.org/arcgis/rest/services/Overlays/LocateTickets/MapServer
But getting the same error message.

Is there any type of security (Web Tier, Win Auth, etc.) on the map service that would require entering credentials to connect to it?

No there is no authecation needed except to be on the network.

Hi Thomas,
To use a local-only resource in Geocortex Reporting 5 you'll need to use the on-premises installation. Our cloud servers can't resolve the name gis.rgcweb.org to connect to your server.
Information about installing the on-premises version is available in the help under the topic Install Geocortex Reporting on Premises:

Thank you Malcolm.
One follow up question to that, would you recomend installing the on-premises geocortex reporting 5 applicaiton on the same server as our existing geocrotex installaiton?
We appear to have plunty of resouces for it.
