How does instant search handle duplicates?
Sorry if this sounds like a silly question to those in the know. I’m new to instant search and still educating myself on it.
We have layers in our map service that are based on the same feature class, but use different definition queries to use different symbologies. We really only need instant search on the last layer, which is the entire feature class with no definition queries. I know instant search runs on the entire map service in Server, but can it recognize features it’s already indexed from a different layer?
This post (https://support.geocortex.com/essentialsGSCForum?id=9066000000007doAAA) states that it will run on the entire service and offers a potential solution, but since it’s from 2014 I thought I’d see if it’s still the case. Thanks in advance for any help.

Hello Emily
That post still applies. Instant Search will index the whole service. So if you have a bunch of different queries from the same layer, you would see duplicated results.
As Chris mentions, the best/only way to index a single layer is to break that out into a separate service and index only that service.0
