Is there a way to change the color of a layer in a map service within essentials manager?
Hello Users,
I am trying to determine if it is possible to change the color (outline or fill), of a data layer in a map service within Geocortex Essentials Manager. My team would like to use one map service for parcels but have the option to change the outline color for different applications and customer requests. Thank you in advance for any insight to solve this with out having to publish different services for the sole purpose of a different color.

Liane,
If the MapService layer "Allows per request modification of layer order and symbology" then yes! You can provide a predefined Layer Style. See the Styles tab for the Layer you want to create a style for. Some reference documentation can be found here: https://developers.arcgis.com/labs/javascript/style-feature-layers/
Hope this helps.

Thanks Scott! I notice with my feature service this works beautifully. Now do you know once I create a custom style if that style can be set as the Defualt, so when the viewer launches lets say one of my apps can display a blue outline and the other a yellow. Thanks again for any help. 0 -
That, I'm not sure about but perhaps a startup workflow for one app could apply the style while the other app doesn't. 0 -
I once wanted to set a defualt style but was unable to do so, so I used a startup workflow to do it. I wouldn't be surprised to learn that defaults have been implememnted since then, this was a couple of years back for me. 0 -
Thank you Scott and Zack. 0 -
I would like to have this functionality in my site, how could I run this by using workflow? 0 -
I am in the same boat at Rawan - I would like to set the default style of a map service to a layer style of I have created in Essentials manager. I am fairly new to Geocortex products and have no used Workflows before.
Zach Robison - would you be willing to share the workflow you created to set a default style?0
