Report Maps scale and extent

Greetings,

 

We have a report that fires off from a map tip that uses the standard Geocortex Report Template. In this report, we have 4 map insets and these are generated off of a workflow that multiplies the Map Imge DPI value(96) by the report width to create a Map image width. The same is done for the height in the report.

 

My question is that that this fucniton creates a map image zoomed out to a parcitular scale that is dependent on the dpi and not the get map extent funciton. How can i more easily change the scale on these report maps images and zoom out not based on DPI resolution?
