Setting a renderer on a layer from JSON

Hi,

I'd like to add points from a JSON to my map. I can get a FeatureSet from the JSON, but it is missing symbols. I have too many points to iterate over each one just to assign the same symbol. I'd like to use a JSON renderer on a layer instead (would that work?) My issue though is that I can't use AddLayer using the FeatureSet - I think it fails because the points in the FeatureSet have no symbology. So it's a chicken and egg situation. No symbology, no layer; no layer to create a symbology with the renderer. Also, how would I apply a JSON renderer to a layer?
