How to add a secure item from external ArcGIS portal

I need to add a secure map services from an external arcgis portal.  I have a viewer access to that portal but how can I add the layer to the geocortex html5 viewer?  can authentication be done in the site level?  so the end users don't need to know the portal user credential.

  Are you using your Portal for authentication? You could add the external service as an Item in your Portal with the credentials stored, then share that Item to your Portal users.

  @Dan, thank you for your comment.  the problem is I am not using portal for authentication.  Can the portal item be added with token?

  I don't think so. I think you need to register Geocortex with a Portal for it to access secured content.

   

  I think the same applies for AGOL content.

   

  Non-federated ArcGIS Server services work fine, though.
