How to truncate the ArcGIS portal Full username?

I have a column that is 15 characters. I capture the full name from the ESRI portal to insert in this column. Is there a way to truncate the full name to fit? Right now it leaves a blank. Can the full name be truncated or do i need to expand the size of the USERNAME column.
