Anyone know if it is possible to create an imagery slider in Geocortex Web Viewer?
We routinely using imagery sliders in our Essentials HTML5 viewers. Is there an option to create this feature in the new Geocortex Web viewers? We are currently running Geocortex Web 5.10. Thanks

Hi Michael,
Are you referring to this bad boy?
I'm still wrestling with when/how to replicate this (or even if I should) in GXW.In 5.11 (coming Feb 10th) we introduce a new layer comparison tool (aka Swipe Tool) that builds on Esri's idea of a swipe tool and includes the ability for end users to add/remove layers to the layer comparison.
In practice this would mean that you could expose functionality that would allow your users to compare two specific years e.g. 2006 with 2016 as a more focused view than just sliding through the years in order like in GVH.
Combined with layer presets, events and the like you could build a really slick application that gave folks the ability to do some great year-to-year comparisons.
That said, if it wasn't the primary purpose of your application it isn't quite as simple from the end user's point of view as the GVH style imagery basemap slider thingy was.
Tell me more about how it is commonly used in your organization and what your end users are using it for.
The only thing I'm clear on so far is that it doesn't really belong in the basemap tool in GXW, but that doesn't mean we couldn't create a component specifically suited to this purpose in the future.

Hi Cam
Yes - I am referring to that beauty. Our users love that feature as it allows them to view GIS layers over various years of aerial imagery. It's great for looking at code enforcement issues, historical development, and general land use changes in context with other GIS data layers.
The swipe tool functionality is nice, but doesn't quite achieve the same purpose as the slider. The imagery slider is one of the tools that sets Geocortex apart from ESRI's viewers for us. We see broad use of the slider both by employees and by public users. I'd hear about it if we launched a new viewer without that functionality.
I am very interested in being a guinea pig for you folks if you look at building this functionality into the new Web Viewer. Let me know. Thanks

Thanks @Michael Schonlau?. I agree that the simplicity of how it is presented in GVH is superior for the use cases you are describing. I'll start putting some thought into how we might deliver an equally simple experience as a 'tool' that is part of a larger app (without using the swipe tool).

By chance do you have any updates about this feature?

High-level update. Technical approach is figured out along with the UI/UX and the story is out of the backlog and onto the Kanban board to be picked up as current work completes. That translates to ... it is likely you'll see this this year in either the October or December release.
