Geocortex Essentials - Chrome only loads a quarter of the page
Hi all,
We are running Essential 4.13.1, internally and externally. We have found that within Chrome (Version 89.0.4389.114 (Official Build) (32-bit)) if the site is loading, and then a user opens a new tab, and then goes back to Essentials after its loaded, the map area is only loaded at the bottom of the page, and the layers tab is not shown.
If i click on the expand /collapse data frame button, it loads the map and home panel fine.
Steps to replicate
- Open Chrome and go to https://www.mapping.cityoflondon.gov.uk/geocortex/mapping/?viewer=COMPASS
- open a new tab and stay on that tab
- Give it a minute
- Go back to the essentials site

Hi Halil - this forum is focused more on the newer viewer Geocortex Web, but the behavior you are describing seems to be something far more general in Chrome 89. i've had the same problem with other apps and web pages, if a tab isn't currently in focus, Chrome 89 seems to aggressively 'stop' ongoing processing on tabs that aren't the focus. I can reproduce almost the same behavior on Geocortex Web, the only difference is that Web seems to finish loading when you go back to it.

RE the forum. Is it worth having an essentials forum, especially since the content of the old support site is on here aswell as it being redirected soon?

@Halil Siddique? You may find this greatly improved in Chrome 90 ... I recently updated and whatever 'aggressive' stopping of work in non-focused tabs appears to have been relaxed. I have a couple of tabs open that have counters in them that ceased working in Chrome 89, but now work properly in Chrome 90.
