Is there a limit to the size of the report per item/feature ?

We have a report that produces 8 pages of output for a single item/feature. If I add a small richtext item the reporting job fails (often with "poison message" in the log).

I now suspect that it is caused by the pagewrap into page 9.

Can anybody comment on limits that might be present in designing reports ?

apart from this, are there any other documented best practices /limits for report design ?
