Unable to print map with external service added from Layer Catalog

I'm using GCX 4.8.2.  I have an external secure service added to my viewer via the Layer Catalog.  When I print the map using the built-in Print tool, I get the follow error: 

Print error: Exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation. item WMS: An unknown error occurred while initializing the map service. The remote server returned an error: (401) Unauthorized.

It appears the service is being requested again when setting up the print job and is not able to provide the required credentials.  The credentials are provided when setting up the layer catalog site.

Is there a workaround to this?  This error also occurs on 4.14.4
