Now Available: VertiGIS Studio Workflow 5.29
This release includes the new Subworkflow and Run Subworkflow activities which allow you to create special subworkflows that can be called from various places in your workflow like a function call. Previously it was necessary to save such shared logic in a separate workflow and use the Run Workflow activity to run it.
We also have the new Get Form Element Value and Set Form Element Event activities which make form development a bit easier. In particular, the latter allows you to add an event handler to a dynamically added element, which was not previously possible.
Other changes include being able to use object parameters in the Sandbox, improved experience with Switch statements in the designer and some enhancements to the Send Web Request activity.
Breaking change:
- Workflow no longer supports the Internet Explorer browser.
- Geocortex Viewer for HTML5 (GVH) and Web AppBuilder (WAB) both reference a hosted version of the VertiGIS Studio Workflow runtime. This means that a GVH or WAB application previously running correctly in Internet Explorer will now stop working unless mitigation steps are taken to point those applications to a fixed version of the Workflow runtime. This article outlines the required mitigation steps if you have existing GVH or WAB apps that you wish to continue running in Internet Explorer:

Nico Burgerhart They will be included in a future release of our other viewers. GVH and Web AppBuilder are the only ones that use Workflow Runtime via the SaaS environment, so they are immediately upgraded when we release a new version.

Are the Subworkflow and Run Subworkflow activities only available for GVH and Web App Builder?

Is that also true for the on prem environments? We are runnning VS Workflow 5.29.0 and VS Web 5.18.1, but the Workflow designer doesn't show the Subworkflow activities when Web is checked as part of the deployment. From which version of Web on will we be able to use these Subworkflows?

Wout Peters The on-premises version of Workflow 5.29 includes the new activities, but no version of Web includes them yet. I checked with the Web team and they said these new activities won't be supported until Web 5.21, which is scheduled for release in December.

Hi Ken,
We plan to use subworkflows, but we'll migrate to experience builder soon. We also plan to use Vertigis Studio Web. Therfore we need to know: Is Experience Builder support and support for Vertigis Studio Web for the subworkflow activity on the roadmap and if so, when can we expect support for it in Experience Builder en Vertigis Studio Web?

Hi Eric Richters, thanks for the question.
The recent release of the Experience Builder Widgets for ArcGIS Experience Builder 1.9 includes support for everything in Workflow 5.29, as mentioned in the Experience Builder widgets release announcement.
The up-coming release of Web 5.20 will not include Workflow 5.29. It is expected that Web 5.21 will upgrade to Workflow 5.29 or 5.30. This will likely be released some time in December.
