Updating VMWare Tools to v12.5.0 impacts the GEONIS Datashop Job Engine

Issue

The VMware Tools 12.5.0 release from the 8th of October 2024 is currently rolled out globally. After the update is active on your virtual machine, all your GEONIS Datashop jobs will prematurely end with the status FAILED.

All jobs will end at the PreProcess step:

Affected versions

• GEONIS Datashop 2021.x
• GEONIS Datashop 2017.x
• GEONIS Datashop 5.4

Workaround

With a downgrade to the previous VMware Tools 12.4.x the GEONIS Datashop Job Engine is fully functional again.

Solution

Broadcom has not yet addressed the issue.
