How to access current result showing in Results Detail component in a workflow?

Hello, I'm trying to build a workflow that reads fields from the currently displayed feature in a Results Detail component.  I have two questions.

1 - what is the best way to trigger the workflow?  The Results Detail could be populated by the user clicking on a record in a results table, or by clicking on the map to identify a feature.  Also, if multiple features are returned, the user may click through them in the Results Detail.

2 - what is the workflow syntax to access the feature once the workflow has been triggered.
