Borders on components?

Hi guys

Apologies if this has been asked for before, or if it's even possible already, but is there a way we can add borders to the components in the Application?

ie. I'd really like to have a line below the toolbar, or above the map, and on top of the left hand panel, to just ‘finish off’ the look and feel of the UI. At present, things just look a bit unfinished?

It could be just me, and my complete incompetence,  but I'm not seeing an easy way of doing this OOTB. (I've added the lines via CSS injection), but it would be nice if we could add this sort of thing without workflows.
