Example custom command with command chaining

I'm already familiair with writing custom commands and operations for Web, but I can't seem to find a sample that shows how to use command chaining (i.e. get the output of the previous command in a series of commands)

It is of course possible to use a workflow, but there are cases when it's just easier to set up a few commands in the viewer and not having to write and maintain a separate workflow. 

My idea is to add a sample to the developer's documentation, or maybe in one of the github sample projects
