Make it clear which Layer Theme is selected

Has anyone implemented a solution that makes it clear which layer theme is active after clicked? Ideally, the name of the layer theme would function like a button and show when its active. 

Solution options could be: the text would change colour once selected, or there would be a highlight around the text, or the layers themes would function like a picklist. 

Any help would be appreciated.
