Markdown Hyperlink - force to open in same tab instead of a new tab.

I add a Text control.  Then I added a hyperlink in Markdown format.  How can I make that hyperlink open in the current tab instead of a new tab?   It seems like Markdown defaults to new tab, and because I can't see the HTML in the Text control, I am not seeing any way to make this work.  Any suggestions?
