Error message when changing identify type
In an app we developed for our clients there is an identify/selection toolbar with separate menu elements for each type of selection (point, rectangle, polygon, line and multipoint).
When the end user selects one type of selection and then, without clicking on the map, selects another type (e.g. because they change their mind about the needed selection geometry), an error message pops up: “Identity failed. No valid geometry was provided.”

This does not directly prevent the work flow - the user can continue to make the selection they wish for - but is quite an annoying disturbance: the error message is dark red, indicating something critical, and does not disappear on its own, but must be actively closed by the user. Our clients assess this inconvenience to have a big negative effect of their use of the app.
We have not been able to find a way to get rid of this error pop-up. Is there anyone who has experienced a similar issue and found a solution/workaround to it?

We see the same behaviour and, as developers, understand why the error message occurs. However it's not a good experience from the user perspective.

My user is getting this with our identify tool that only allows point and rectangle (which it changes to when they start dragging a rectangle). I have been unable to replicate the issue and am very stumped as to what the source of the problem is for him.
