Flex Viewer and Geocortex Essentials Manager
Can one administer a site in the Geocortex Essentials Manager and have it use the Geocortex Flex Viewer, rather than the Silverlight Viewer? Up to now, I've been playing around with the Silverlight Viewer, but I wanted to see what the Flex Viewer is all about. For instance, I can't seem to figure out how to load a "flex" viewer temaplate, or apply it to a site...
Thoughts?
Mike.

Hi Mike,
You can't do it yet because we haven't yet released a Flex Viewer capable of working with VTE (Viewer Template Engine - the technology that allows you to add viewers through REST Manager). We also haven't released the VTE file itself. This capability is coming.... soon.
You can however load a site into the Flex Viewer in the normal/traditional way. Refer to the Administrator Guide for the Flex Viewer to see how to do this.

Is that the same for the JavaScript Viewer too?

We have a JavaScript API but not a viewer.

I want to add some context to this thread. We have three client APIs: Silverlight, Flex, and JavaScript. All three of these APIs can connect up to a Site created in Essentials Manager. We also have two viewers: the Geocortex Viewer for Silverlight (which uses our Silverlight API) and the Geocortex Sample Flex Viewer (which uses our Flex API). So the simple answer to the first question is Yes, you can create a site in Essentials Manager and consume it in both our Silverlight Viewer and Flex Viewer.
Templates are a newer feature that make it easier to deploy viewers from within Essentials Manager. When it comes to templates, Jeff's comments below are accurate.
I hope this helps,
Dave

Yes, that helps - I didn't know that templates are a new thing! Now I just have some more reading/learning to do to figure out how to hook up the flex viewer with a site (ditto for JavaScript).
