Essentials 3.4 - User Projects
Hi, Is there any documentation describing how the new projects feature in the Silverlight 1.1 viewer works? There doesn’t seem to be a way to configure this feature through the manager? I‘m wondering where the user projects are saved and if it’s possible to set up user directories?

Hi Dan:
Pertaining to the REST API
The projects files are placed into the Projects folder adjacent to your site folders. Currently, the location of this folder is not configurable and this folder cannot be organized---this will likely always be the case here.
Pertaining to the Viewer
In keeping to the requirements specified for 1.1, there is no current way to organize projects into folders. I did write provisions in the underlying infrastructure with folders potentially being introduced as a feature later on.
There is not much configuration for the viewer with respect to projects. You can disable the SaveOpenProjects module or assign the advanced setting 'ProjectCategory' which allows you to perform a high level filtering of what projects are visible for that viewer.
Out of curiousity what is it you are trying to do?

The inability to direct the projects to another location is a big problem for us. After years of our users (some in sensitive Public Safety positions) using the "Save Session" from the IMF world, they are complaining that if they save a project it could be seen from others who happen to try the open project function.
I hope you will rethink how this works!

Another issue with projects that I have noticed in both upgrades I have done 3.4.x and 3.5 is that users lose graphics they added to there projects when upgrading version of essentials. I have mad end users because there markups are gone from there projects that were created prior to the upgrade.
