Error creating Feature Map

I'm trying to create a feature map to use in a parcel report (basically, trying to replicate what is in the Charlotte demo). 

When I  try to Add Feature Map, if reports an error - "Could not find a feature with geometry in this layer."

Any ideas what is going on?  I've tried it on several layers from different services (cached, dynamic, point, polygon etc), with no luck.  I couldn't find any meaningful documentation of what feature maps are, or what they are used for, so I may be missing something obvious.

  Chris,

  purely a stab in the dark, as I've not put a lot of reports together as yet, but have you 'turned off/hidden' the shape field in the mxd/msd as a viewable field for the layers you are reporting on? I've been having issues with this with workflows getting the geometry to zoom to the feature once selected from a workflow-derived search....

  Likewise Object ID is often required.

  Thanks Gareth & Brad.  Making the shape field visible in the msd fixed the problem.
