I have this same issue. I have not been able to figure this out. I have isolated to one server on our network that is running SQL Server 2005 64bit on Windows Server 2008 64bit. I can get the data link to work on my databases that are on 2003 32bit boxes. Are you running Windows Sever 2008 on the machine you are trying to link to? I still have not figrued this one out my permissions are all correct but for some reason the data link shows nothing and gives no error either.

    Tom,

I expect that the issue for you is the alias on the link_fld [Database Key] attribute.  Though I believe this has been resolved for the upcoming release of the Silverlight Viewer, data links will not work properly when the join field has been aliased at the MXD level.  If possible, you could remove the MXD alias for the link_fld attribute, then set the Display Name of the field instead at the Geocortex Essentials Site level in REST Manager if needed.

Alternately, if you are not using the externally linked data in any template reports (which from the looks of the linked application is the case), you can change the join field manually in the Site.xml file from "link_fld" to "Database Key".  This will have the effect of making the links function in the Silverlight Viewer but will cause the REST Endpoint to not work anymore, though that is less important.

Nick - perhaps you have a similar configuration?

    John!

Thank you so much. The alias was the issue (which is actually set at the database-level), but I changed it in the MXD. This also fixed the report issue that I ran into today. +2 for you.

I have the same problem here wit hGE3.14 and SV1.9.1.

I'm using SQL Server 2008 and AGS10.1 I can query the datalink in GE RestEnd Point. But It just didn't show up in the Feature Details window. I just used OBJECID fields on both the layer and the table for connection key field and never touched the defaul alias name of the fields in MXD.

    regards,

    Hello,

It sounds like a similar issue that I'm having.  I have created a new data link using an existing data connection.  Within ArcMap and Geocortex Essentials rest endpoint I am able to query the related data.  In ArcMap I get the related data as expected, but in the GE rest endpoint I get 0 results.  Within the Silverlight viewer, I can identify a feature and see the new table for the data link but there are no related records or fields headings.  I have created several data links in the past and they work as expected so I'm confused as to why this one is not working properly.  The suggestion in this thread was not applied to the existing data links so I'm thinking the issue may be something else.  Any help is appreciated.

    GE 3.9, SilverlightViewer 1.5.2, ArcGIS 10, SQL Server 2008R2

    Thanks in advance,

    Sharon

I managed to get it to work by using a Relationship within GE instead of a Data Link, though I think the Data Link should work.  Just wondering if there is a way to remove/hide fields from the related data.
