Use related table feature in arcgis rest sites

I think essentials should be able to use the "query related table" natively in the identify, select, search etc. arcserver mapservices, if one has been defined.  If we already have the query related table in a rest site, why can't we use it instead of having to build a separate data connection and then store a table?  I think essentials should detect this capability and use it.
